Recreation Programs
Recreation baseball is played in the spring from April until the end of June.
K - For players in Kindergarten, this T-ball clinic is designed to teach basic skills. Typically weekly Saturday sessions.
AA - For players in 1st and 2nd, this program is designed to teach the basic skills of baseball during games in a semi-competitive atmosphere. Players transition from Coaches pitch to Kids pitch during the season. Games are played on Saturdays and some weeknights. Records and standings are not kept.
MINORS - Made up of players in 3rd and 4th grades. 2 games per week, typically 1 weeknight and 1 weekend game. Standings are maintained and playoffs played at the end of the season.
MAJORS - Made up of players in 5th and 6th grades. 2 games per week, typically 1 weeknight and 1 weekend game. Standings are maintained and playoffs played at the end of the season.
7th/8th Grade Kinderkamack League - Made up of players in 7th and 8th grades. 2 games per week, typically 1 weeknight and 1 weekend game. The league is made up of 20+ recreation teams from other towns (Emerson, Westwood, New Milford, Oradell, Washington Twp, River Vale, Park Ridge and Montvale). Teams play 5 home games in River Edge and 5 away games in other towns. Standings are maintained and playoffs played at the end of the season.
Travel Programs
Travel is broken up into 2 seasons. The fall season runs from the beginning of September until early November. The spring/summer season runs from the beginining of April until the end of July.
Travel baseball is a more competitive program against other towns. All travel players must be registered for a recreation program in order to qualify for a travel roster spot. Rosters are capped at 12 players. If more than 12 are registered and there are not enough players to form 2 teams within an age group, a mandatory evaluation will be held and the top 12 rated will be assigned to a roster. Players unable to secure a roster spot will be refunded all travel registration fees. The divisions are set by birthdate not grade level (Ex: 10U consists of a player whose birthday is between 9/1/2012 - 8/31/2013).
